‘Indulgence’ was a brand developed as part of my Masters project. I am very proud to include this section in my portfolio as I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. My MA Graphic Design Research was about studying the role of calligraphy in today’s digital age. It was about looking at the practical application of calligraphy in different media, understanding its authenticity, its aura and the impact it could have on the visual language. My project was about designing packages for handmade confectionaries & chocolates using calligraphy as a tool for emotional design (appeal). Research included making note of hand existing written logos, understanding why they are acknowledged, how they are superior to computer typefaces. In today’s computer age, graphic designers like us have got so much used to this box that none of us hold a pencil and sketchbook anymore. So my final result was coming up with a confectionery brand and creating various packaging boxes.
